Many people are incredibly self-conscious about their arms, with the stigma attached to bingo wings becoming more and more prominent in modern day culture. Despite numerous arm workouts hitting social media, if you have already lost significant amounts of weight, the only way to tackle the leftover, loose skin is by surgery.
What surgery will help tackle my arm area?
A brachioplasty – more commonly known as an arm reduction – is a procedure that is used to remove excess skin and some fat from the underside of your upper arms. Useful for those who have lost a lot of weight, you may also consider this treatment if you have lost skin tone due to ageing.
What is the procedure like?
We will start by making an incision on the underside of the upper arm – this will extend up into your armpit. Next, excess skin and fat are removed before the skin is re-sutured. This will leave you with a much more defined upper arm, without the redundant hanging skin. This procedure is done using a short general anaesthetic, so you will need to stay overnight.
